In the name of God Amen I William Noyes of Vernhams Dean in the parish of Hurstbourne Tarrant in the county of Southampton being in perfect mind and memory calling to mind the mortality of my body and knowing that it is appointed for all men once to die, doth make an ordain this my Last Will and Testament. That in principally and first of all I recommend my soul into the hands of Almighty God that gave it hoping through the merritts and mediation of Jesus Christ my blessed saviour and redeemer to receive the same again at the general resurrection and my body I commend to the earth to be decently buried at the charge and discretion of my executrix hereinafter named, and as touching all such worldly estate as it hath pleased Almighty God to bestow on me in this life I give and dispose of the same in the following manner and form.

 

Imprimis I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Mary Noyes all my estate whatsoever both real and personal if she shall continue my widow during her natural life and to be at her disposing to her children as she shall think convenient to appoint by her Last Will and Testament, But if she shall happen to marry again then my Will is that she shall have only her dower of my free land lying in Vernham's Dean in the parish of Hurstbourne Tarrant aforesaid, and then upon consideration that she doth marry again I give and dispose of my estate as followeth. I give unto my son Robert Noyes my house commonly called by the name of Vernham's Inn with the meadow, barn, stables appurtenances thereunto belonging, his life in the same; and also half my stock of goods and other effects whatsoever it shall be in my ____ dwelling house at the time of my decease; Item I also give and bequeath unto my daughter Mary wife of Thomas Horte the sum of one shilling to be paid her in twelve months time after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my daughter Elizabeth wife on Robert Scullard the sum one shilling to be paid her also twelve months time after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my son William Noyes the like sum of one shilling to be paid him also in twelve months time after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Frances Noyes the sum of fifty pounds to be paid him also in twelve months time after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Edward Noyes the like sum of fifty pounds to be him also twelve months time after my decease. Item I give and bequeath unto my son George Noyes the like sum of fifty pounds to him also in twelve months after my decease. Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Francis Noyes the like sum of fifty pounds to be paid her when she shall attain unto the age of one and twenty years or day of her marriage; And my Will further is one consideration of her eyes being troubled with ailment if so be that she proves dark or ailing in her eyes so that she is not capable of maintaining herself I give her proportionable the sum of four pounds per annum to be paid her yearly delivering illness until the day of her marriage. Item I give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Noyes the sum of fifty pounds to be paid him when he shall also attain unto the age of one and twenty years; Item I give and bequeath unto my grandchild William Noyes the sum of one ginney to be paid him in twelve months time after my decease. Item I give unto my grandchild Mary Scullard the sum of one ginney to be paid her in twelve months time after my decease. Item I give unto the poor of the parish of Vernham's Dean aforesaid the sum of twenty shillings worth of bread to be disposed of in one month after my decease to twenty poor house kippers? Who my executrix thinks hath nee, and my will further is that if my wife shall happen to marry again that I do order and appoint that all my freehold estate whatsoever shall be sold to the best purchaser as may be got for the payment of all my legacies before given and disposed of and if anything shall remain after legacies are paid I give same unto my son Robert Noyes and I do hereby make and ordain my beloved wife Mary Noyes to be sole executrix of this my Last Will and Testament and I do hereby revoke and dissannul all former Wills by me before this time made and acknowledging this and no other to be my Last Will and Testament in witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the twenty eighth day of January anno domini 1729/30.
